Where it stands

In development. The on-device speech engine, the caption bar and its accessible presets, opt-in history, the OBS source and offline licensing all work. Before it can be sold it still needs a round of testing on real Windows hardware, an in-app model download, a signing key, a final name and a price.

Caption Glass captions voice chat, calls, games and video on Windows, using a speech model that runs on your own PC. The captions sit in a bar that stays on top and lets your clicks pass through to whatever is underneath, and your own mic gets its own label and color so you can tell who said what.

Who it's for

Anyone who wants readable captions on a Windows PC for voice chat, calls, games and video: deaf and hard of hearing players, people in noisy rooms, and anyone whose teammates mumble.

What it does

• Captions for voice chat, calls, games and video in a caption bar that stays on top and lets clicks pass through, with your own mic labeled "You" in its own color.
• Readable by design: large-text and high-contrast styles, and every built-in style is designed to meet WCAG AA contrast for both speakers.
• Once the speech model is downloaded, it works with no internet connection at all.
• Pro: optional caption history with search and SRT, WebVTT or text export.
• Pro: a clean captions-only source for OBS, custom vocabulary for names and jargon, translation into English and larger speech models.
• Pro: push-to-talk dictation into any app, which puts back whatever you had copied.

What it keeps, and where

Audio is processed in memory on your PC and never written to disk or sent anywhere. Captions are saved only if you turn on history, and only on your PC.

Speech model download (only when you ask for it); Dictation cleanup (Pro) (off until you turn it on).

Questions

Does it send my audio anywhere?

No. Audio is held in memory just long enough to turn speech into text on your PC, then discarded. It is never written to disk.

Are accessibility features part of Pro?

No. Readable styles and every accessibility option are in the free version.
